Vacation time is the best! As soon as the holidays are about to come, my excitement level shoots up like a rocket. Every time I eavesdrop my parents discussing where to go for the next vacation I am elated. And guess where our last vacation was…. The Pink City- Jaipur,India. Now for those who have not visited Jaipur, let me tell you about the weather over there. The weather there is ‘scorching hot’. So while I was doing packing for my trip I kept the weather in mind and wanted to take the latest dresses in which I would be comfortable. After searching for a long time from the variety of ladies dresses available today I finally resorted to skirts and long skirts. It took me a long time to select the best long skirts from so many options with different designs and patterns. With all my stuff packed tightly in my suitcase (which was about to explode) I was all set to go on a royal experience.
My father had booked a hotel which was earlier a palace and was maintained since then. On the way I was just wondering how my latest dresses would be a contrast to the traditional and royal ambience of the palace. It was only when I reached there and realized that all my thoughts were a spoof because the palace-turned-hotel was only traditional from the outside. Inside there were elaborate modern chandeliers, scented corridors, smiling receptionists with crisp ironed skirts etc. As my parents were planning the days of our visit, me and my sister were sitting in a corner, talking in hushed voices and giggling. We both could not just wait to wear our new ladies dresses. The next day we were to visit the famous Hawa Mahal. Me and my sister were helping each other out with styling our skirts, accessories, doing our hair and that’s when we get a surprise! Mom was also wearing a pretty indo-western style long skirt! And believe me she was looking no less than a celebrity. Our further visits were quite fun for me, my sister and my mother but my father was hell tired by clicking pictures of the three of us with skirts and long skirts twirling and carrying our shopping bags. When we came back to the hotel, oh! Sorry, palace-turned-hotel we had dinner enjoying the rajasthani folk dance and rajasthani folk music alongside. There was also bonfire till late light the next day which gave all three girls another chance to adorn our latest dresses in the following days we also went to Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, City Palace, Albert Hall Museum which were all breathtakingly beautiful. The local markets there had so much to shop that I could have kept shopping like forever. We saw a completely different culture as compared to Delhi with different types of ladies dresses, accessories, footwear and also the way to wear all these things. Dad had an old acquaintance of his in Jaipur and we also had to visit him. This day’s excitement was that me and my sister played dress up. We had to put on our best latest dress and get ready in the best manner we can and then our parents would judge the best out of the two.
As the trip was nearing the end, stronger was my feeling of not going back. Finally, when the trip commenced I was happy and sad both at the same time. But in the end it was a great experience and all three of us were thankful to my dad for it. I shared my photos of the trip on social networking sites and all my friends were amazed to see how constrasting the new ladies dresses looked with a traditional back drop, and loved them.
